Happy Indigenous Peoples Day
According to the United States Government, today is Columbus Day. Christopher Columbus was allegedly the first European to set foot in the New World. Evidence suggests he was quite cruel to the indigenous inhabitants of the lands he helped conquer.
To the “Native Americans” in the United States, Columbus is a symbol of their eventual defeat by the evil white Europeans. So the solution to this feeling of shame is to get the government that was founded by those evil white Europeans who regularly committed atrocities against them and violated treaties made with them, to recognize a holiday in their honor which will be known as Indigenous Peoples Day.
I wonder if Europeans in Europe can have an Indigenous Peoples Day to commemorate what their cultures were like before Angela Merkel launched her Muslim invasion of 2015. No that would be racist.
Paul Ryan wants to pass Obamatrade.
Rumors are that should Romney’s VP candidate ascend to Speaker of the House, he will “strong arm” Obama’s trade deal through Congress. This will simply reinforce the fact that the two parties work together to further the interests of powerful global corporations. To be anti-State is, in a sense, to be anti-Big Business.
There are plenty of reasons to oppose the TPP. It actually gives more power to bureaucrats to dictate the terms of trade. It supposedly has all kinds of nonsense about “climate change” and immigration that have nothing to do with trade. It’s a secret deal so that means Obama and the global elites who wrote the bill for him don’t want average Americans, Koreans, Canadians, Australians, etc. to read it because they know it will be unpopular.
But the bottom line is this: Free trade means the government getting out of the way and letting any citizens under its control trade with anyone they want. It doesn’t require one government to reach an agreement with another government. Free trade is unilateral. If we had free trade in the USA, then Americans could engage in unrestricted commerce with people anywhere on the planet. It wouldn’t matter what China or Japan did. Their citizens might have to abide by restrictive laws when trading with Americans, but Americans could do whatever they want.
That’s free trade. If you don’t like it then fine. Argue your case. But don’t pretend that TPP or NAFTA or GATT or any other government acronym advances free trade.
California governor denies terminally ill patients the right to use treatments not approved by the Washington regime
Jerry Brown would rather people die than have access to drugs that haven’t yet been approved by the FDA. Liberal Democrats love the FDA even though it was created by a Republican. So do drug companies.
The good news is that 24 states do allow dying people to defy Federal bureaucrats: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming.
Cubans paid to live in Florida and not work
As everyone knows, Cubans are super special awesome people who deserve to be handed money stolen from American citizens so they can relax in Florida and do nothing. I mean after all Communism!! And they’re all refugees fleeing an evil dictatorship where they’re not even allowed to vote!!!
Keep in mind Republicans will never question this policy because Cubans who are US citizens vote Republican, and they are a key constituency for them in the swing state of Florida. Democrats won’t question it because they have never found a Welfare program they didn’t like.
So don’t expect this to change anytime soon even though the US has semi-normalized relations with the Castro Brothers.
South Carolina hates Jeb (and Lindsey)
Are the people of South Carolina tired of politicians who bomb countries and then invite the refugees (and anyone else for that matter) to resettle in the USA? Looks like that might finally be the case. They don’t seem to be offering much support to the GOP’s leading warmonger and South Carolina Senator either.
